The Art of connection is the creative process and skill of expression. Expressing your heart, your passion, that part of you that fuels you, creates a pathway between you and something that most resist.
When I searched for connection, I didn’t realize I was searching for something that was already inside of me. I’ve heard many ‘spiritual’ people say that to me, ‘It’s all inside of you’, which I’d listen to politely, and, ya, inside my own head, I’d scoff and say sarcastically, ‘Whatever”.
I didn’t have an understanding or connection to what they were saying, so it didn’t feel comfortable. I didn’t have any experiences or evidence to relate it to. So instead of admitting I didn’t know or understand, I stayed unteachable. I stayed at the threshold of the unknown. I stayed in my comfort zone, too scared to take a step ~ let alone leap. I got stuck there because I had a limiting belief in place that I wasn’t even aware of.
Beliefs, you know those thoughts that you simply think repetitively, so much so that you begin to believe they’re truth. Ya, those. I had a belief that said, being humble meant you were a martyr. Talk about limiting my possibilities and connections. I can explore and analyze all day HOW & WHY that belief was made, but instead of diving down a rabbit hole, there’s another way.
I learned awhile ago that staying humble meant keeping my mind open to learning. Learning, you see, IS the pathway to connection. When I heard that, when I listened with curiosity, I realized ‘staying teachable’ just didn’t make sense to me, to what I KNEW humility was. But, in the moment I admitted I didn’t know something, I took a step away from being a martyr, and a step closer to actually being humble. In that moment, the Art of Connection began.
The steps we take to link a curiosity to experience IS the Art of Connection. Once curiosity gathers enough evidence through experience to declare a lesson learned and integrated, the full expression of that journey is ART. Do you have the fuel, the passion, the humility to allow yourself to get from curiosity, through possibilities and ultimately connecting your heart and your head.
April 6, I am hosting a workshop that can illuminate, ignite and transform limiting beliefs into the Art of Connection. More information to come…..
